Everything’s fresh at the new Fresh Market in Woodbury

We don’t have any Fresh Market stores here in NYC, so I didn’t know much about this North Carolina-based supermarket chain. Turns out, they’re pretty awesome. They opened their newest store in Woodbury (Long Island) on Wednesday and they’re making a real effort to carry local products…like ours!

We’ll be on hand this afternoon from 4-7 pm, handing out samples of all five Granola Lab varieties.

Granola Lab joins Buunni Coffee at the Bryant Park Holiday Shops

The holiday shopping season is underway. Proof: Bryant Park’s Winter Village opened on Friday, with over 125 neat and tidy little shops lining the walkways. Our friends at Buunni Coffee have their own outpost at this shopping mecca and are selling Granola Lab alongside their amazing coffee beans.

They’re offering fair-trade chocolates, pottery, and some fine wares from Ethiopia as well.

Cafe Buunni is in a lovely residential area of Washington Heights. They sell our granola at the cafe and we’re so pleased they’ve brought us along to Bryant Park. Available for gifting or your everyday breakfast/snacking needs: Activation Energy, Cranberry Cashew Compound, and Mediterranean Mix. Their booth, near the corner of 42nd Street and 6th Avenue (facing 42nd), will be open every day through January 5, 2014.

We have a winner!

Voting in our Flavor Battle survey has closed and a clear winner chosen by you, the granola people! To recap, the Lab makes five varieties of granola, plus an occasional special flavor, Our latest limited edition, Mediterranean Mix, proved quite popular. So, we pitted it against our weakest seller, Tamarind Fusion, in an Epic Showdown.

The winner is Mediterranean Mix!

With a satisfying 62% majority, this sesame, almond, apricot, and pistachio granola is the people’s choice. Tamarind Fusion brought in 29% of the vote, while 9% of you claimed to love both flavors equally.

We took great pride in making the only tamarind granola in the USA, but it seems our country isn’t quite ready to include this tart, tangy fruit as part of their breakfast. Tamarind Fusion fans will have 4 more weeks to order before we take it off the market. Perhaps it will return someday…nothing is ruled out!

Queens-bound or bust

We’re excited to announce that Granola Lab is available in two locations in Queens! The borough to our north is just as deserving of delicious, high-quality, preservative-free granola as Brooklyn and Manhattan. Sorry it took us so long to get to you!

Our first two stores are Foodcellar & Co. in Long Island City and Vitality & Health Natural Market in Astoria.

We’ll be demo-ing the goods at Foodcellar this Sunday from 12-4 pm. They’re on 47th Road, right by Gantry Plaza State Park (an amazing riverside spot, I must say).

Vote in our Flavor Showdown!

It’s decision time here at the Lab. We’ve had five regular varieties in our rotation for a long time, with special flavors making occasional appearances. Our newcomer, Mediterranean Mix, has proven quite popular. Tamarind Fusion, on the other hand, has always been a slow seller. It’s a unique flavor combo and no one else is making tamarind granola! But it’s hard to argue with numbers.

Sooooo…we’re letting you decide. Vote in our Flavor Showdown! It’s a one question survey. Easy peasy.

Need more evidence? Order either or both of the flavors in question and take 20% off through 10/23. Just enter coupon code ROCKTHEVOTE.

Page Turner Festival

We’re joining several food vendors at this Saturday’s Asian American Writers’ Workshop Food & Book Festival in Downtown Brooklyn. The AAWW has an extensive, exciting line-up of readings, workshops, and events of all kinds. What will we have? Granola. And cookies. Damn fine cookies.

Also, we’ll be at both Smorgasburgs this weekend. Get your vinyl at the semi-annual BK Flea Record Fair Saturday in Williamsburg, adjacent to Smorg in East River State Park. And an important note, Sunday’s Smorg in Brooklyn Bridge Park is moving to Pier 5. See the map!
